SUMMARY: Perform set up and all position welding on a diversified line of
standard weldments and structures in accordance with code certifications,
alignment, dimensional and general inspection requirements. Fit
and position weldments having a number of parts, use welding fixtures
and jigs where applicable. Methods usually prescribed or standardized
but Welder may select and vary techniques within limits of recognized
procedures. Usual work consists of plate weldments of varied description,
and etc. Work from drawings and job layouts. Use rule, square, templates,
and gauges. Requires knowledge of welding principles and techniques.
Work is subject to final inspection and test.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:
· GMAW (.035, .045, and/or flux core wire)
· Tack and fit up with fixture or without fixture
· Hand grinding
· Set voltage and wire feed speed, verify gas flow
· Understand weld defects and corrective action
· Inspect and clean weld gun
· Change weld wire
· Know weld positions, weld joints, and weld types
· Interpret blueprint for weld information
· Read and understand weld procedures, tape measure
· Must be certified to D1.1 and D1.3 qualifications
· Overhead crane operation
· Leak tight welding
· Meets production standards
· Weld safety
· Other duties as may be assigned

· Select dies and shim to maintain proper bend degrees
· Calculate bend allowance and determine tonnage required
to form
· Set up press – open height, rapid travel, pressing
stroke, back gage and front stops
· Operate press
· Operate overhead crane
· Read pull tape, square, micrometer, calipers and protractor
· Check part for blueprint compliance and approve setup
· Complete part for blueprint compliance and approve set
up
